Today we continue to explore Muscle Tendon Change Classic as part of our Sunday group classes. Originating over a thousand years ago, this set of qigong exercises are steeped in the history of the Shaolin Temple, where it was developed by the legendary Bodhidharma (Da Mo), a Buddhist monk who brought Chan Buddhism (Zen Buddhism) from India to China during the 6th century CE. It is said that Bodhidharma specifically developed this practice after observing the physical weaknesses of the monks resulting from prolonged periods of meditation and inactivity. Over time, the Muscle Tendon Change Classic became one of the fundamental practices within the Shaolin tradition, renowned for its ability to enhance physical strength, flexibility, and internal energy cultivation.
